Chinese language - Tips on Learning to Speak Chinese

More and more gentlemen on Chnlove are interested in learning Chinese. Maybe, they want to give better and deep impression to their Chinese girl by speaking their language. It's wonderful! Here we will give you some fundamental tips you should know when starting to learn the Chinese language. Some people said Chinese is one of the hardest languages to master but this article will help you get started on your journey to learning Chinese.

Learning Chinese, like pleasing your Chinese girlfriend, is going to take some time and effort. Chinese gets a "bad rap" as being one of the most difficult languages to learn. However, there are also reasons why learning Chinese may actually be EASIER than learning a language such as English, Spanish or French. Whenyou've decided to learn Chinese for dating Chinese girl, here are some things you expect:

1. No Verb Conjugations - That's right! The Chinese language does not require verb conjugations. For example, the Chinese word in pinyin for "to be" is "shi", pronounced "shir". To say "I am" is "Wo shi" (pronounced "Wor shir"). To say "He is" would be "Ta shi" (pronounced "Tah shir"). Notice the verb "to be" or "shi" has not changed form whatsoever. This is how all verbs in Chinese are and this makes learning new verbs much easier, because you don't need to concern yourself with multiple variations of each verb.

2. No Verb Tenses - Verbs in Chinese do not change form based on the tense you are using. Contrast this with English where we would say "I go" versus "I went". In English, Spanish, French and most languages, the actual verb form changes, sometimes very drastically, based on when the action took place. In Chinese, this is not the case. To say "I go" would be "Wo qu" (pronounced "Wor choo"). To say "I went" would be "Wo qu le" (pronounced "Wor choo le"). Notice the "le" at the end of the sentence, which indicates that the action is in the past. However, the verb itself "qu" has not changed. Regardless of whether you are doing an action now, in the past or in the future, Chinese does not require you to modify the verb form.

3. No Gender Nouns - Gender nouns are a common component in some languages such as Spanish and French. There are no gender nouns in Chinese.

4. Chinese Grammar is Relatively Simple - A sentence in English such as, "I want to go to the beach" in Chinese would be translated as "I want go beach". There are rarely any "extra" words used such as "to", "the", etc. Many beginners learning Chinese take a while to get used to speaking so straightforward and without these words so common in other languages.

Then, you must be asking yourself... So if that's all true, then why do people say it's so hard to learn Chinese!?! Learning Chinese does have its challenges. These challenges include:

1. Characters Instead of an Alphabet - The Chinese language is composed of over 30,000 characters, although only a few thousand are really necessary to learn for daily conversation. While Chinese has something called "radicals" which do make up characters, there is no alphabet in the standard sense of the word. This can make learning Chinese more difficult because you won't be able to use reading as a way to learn to speak. For example, if you know English and have a basic concept of how Spanish is pronounced, you could pick up any book and begin to read it. You may not know what the meaning is, but at least you can read and pronounce what is on paper. Chinese however is not like this. If you haven't specifically memorized the character you are reading, you don't know it and cannot say it. Therefore, it is impossible for a beginner to pick up a piece of paper and read the Chinese characters on it. This is why many people learn to speak Chinese quite well, yet can't read and write Chinese characters.

2. Tones - Chinese is a tonal language, meaning that the pronunciation of the word affects its meaning. This can be tricky to those who have not grown up with a tonal language as their mother tounge. There are examples such as "ma" which can mean "mother", "horse", "port" and a few other things just by changing the tone. While tones are important and certainly a challenge, don't let this be an excuse not to learn Chinese. The more familiar you become with the language the more straightforward speaking with the proper tones will become. Now that you have a primer on the Chinese language if you didn't already, don't wait to begin or continue your Chinese language study!

Chnlove Tips: Choosing an Online Dating Picture

http://www.chnlove.com/
Think about your online dating searching process - don't you always check the personal ads with photos first? A dating research has demonstrated that by simply posting a picture, it automatically increases the number of responses - even if you are not overly attractive.
A photo attached to the online dating profile can personalize your ad and reduce others' uncertainty, especially when you choose Chnlove as your dating channel, your ultimate goal must be actually meeting your Chinese girl in person, in this case, choosing a dating picture becomes more essential.

Picture Taking Tips
The key in accurately displaying your best appearance online is taking the best photograph possible. Ideally, start with a new or recent photo. If you are relatively new to photography, here are some basic photography tips:

• Lighting is critical for a good photo. Unless you have access to a professional studio, take your picture outside on a bright day, preferably in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid shadows.

• Focus on the face and shoulders.

• Stand back and zoom on the face. This ensures the picture is clear and sharp.

• Stand up straight. This will make you look thinner and more confident. Just don't be too rigid!

• Take an assortment of pictures with different face angles - facing front, side, profile, head up, down, etc.

• Preview your background. What are you standing in front of? How will it look in the backdrop, and will it create the correct contrast for your face?

• Make sure you are smiling and feel relaxed and happy. This will help you to look more natural in your picture. Try a fun activity before taking your picture; that carefree glow will shine through the lens.

Choosing a Dating Picture
Then, when you have selected a handful of your best pictures, how do you go about actually choosing a online dating picture? While analyzing your assortment, keep the following tips in mind:

• Be honest. Choose a recent photo and never use a fake picture. It is certainly okay to touch up a pimple or two but don't change hair color or stretch your picture so you appear thinner. They are going to see the real you eventually anyway!

• Don't post a picture of someone else, even if you are upfront about it, like a picture of your child. Potential daters simply want to see you.

• Avoid pictures with other people in them, even if you crop their faces out. There still might be a stray arm or hand that will look odd to the viewer.

• For your main profile picture, don't add any props, like a car or pet. If you add other pictures to your ad, that would be the time to add these types of things but only if they are truly significant to you.

• Limit the number of profile pictures to no more than three. Any more and you look a little too full of yourself.

Just as you might brush your hair, floss your teeth and check the mirror one last time before an evening on the town - your online photo is a representation of you. Make sure it is the best ever with above dating tips.

Chinese Culture and Tradition: Courting a Chinese Girl

Join Chnlove Now
Many gentlemen on Chnlove may want to know what Chinese people do when courting, especially when they are taken up with a Chinese girl, they even hope to treat her in a Chinese way. So today, we'd like to share transitional Chinese courting culture - though some have changed in modern society, we believe, some are still deeply affecting Chinese girls. Culture always goes to the bone!

Courting is far more indirect in Chinese culture than in most Western societies. Transitionally, Chinese relationships pass in several stages, usually lasting for a long period of time. An engagement, even lasts for several years and as far as marriage is concerned, it is viewed as a lifetime commitment.

The Friendly Beginning - Often the starting point of a Chinese relationship is a friendly date. The couple will go out together in public places as friends only and will be accompanied by other friends. During this stage of courting there will be no public displays of affection, the man has to be discreet and friendly or he will be accused of being too arrogant. It is too early for kissing or holding hands at this point.

Discreet Chinese Dating - That is the second stage of Chinese courtship and now couples may go out together without the company of their friends, but again, the keyword here is "discreetly". Chinese women cannot afford to be fast, they are expected to be hard to get because it is seen as an appropriate behavior when they are courted. A Chinese girl never shows her admirer that she is also in love with him immediately.

Playing hard to get is one way by which the Chinese can measure the sincerity of the man interested in her. It also lets her show the man that he has to work hard to win her love. Some courtships may last for years before the woman accepts her admirer's love and they become a term for boyfriend-girlfriend.

Taking the Relationship Public - After some time the couple may decide to come out in the open about their romance. At this time they will inform their family and friends about their relationship. Every man who wants to be taken seriously by a Chinese is obliged to visit her family and introduce himself formally to her parents. It is rather inappropriate to court a Chinese girl and formalize the relationship without informing the girl's parents.

There is a tacit rule here that says: "When courting the Asian you are not courting just her, you are courting the entire family". Following this rule will help you earn her respect by entrusting her family with high regard.

There are certain traditions that have to be observed when visiting the Chinese's family. For example, if the man wants to be acceptable to the girl's family, he has to give small gifts every time he drops by her family's house. Then after being a couple with your Chinese girl for quite a time and decide to get married, you should do is ask the girl's parents for her hand.

When courting a Chinese woman you will find that she is shy and reserved even when holding great feelings for you. This is a part of her culture and even for a Western man there is no way around that. You should treat your Chinese girl with respect, lead the courtship with your heart and you may find a lifetime partner that will enrich your life as you have never imagined.
